ICMA Future Leaders

ICMA Future LeadersICMA has set up an ICMA Future Leaders Committee, comprised of individuals in the early stages of their career, to provide the Association with guidance on how to improve its engagement with the younger generation among its membership. ICMA places great importance on reaching out to younger finance professionals in its member firms not only to raise awareness of the Association’s work and the benefits they could reap from its services but also to foster a sense of community.

The committee members provide input on how ICMA can better communicate with their peers, as well as ideas on events and initiatives to encourage the same sense of ICMA community enjoyed by ICMA members at a more senior level.

The committee members currently represent the main ICMA regions in Europe, with representation to be extended shortly to include all 15 regions.

For more information on the committee and how to participate, please contact FutureLeaders@icmagroup.org.

Prior to this, Damien worked for 5 years at BNP Paribas based in Zürich where he started as a graduate before moving to the Swiss Franc syndicate desk. Damien holds an MSc in Finance with a major in Financial Engineering and a BSc of Economics from HEC Lausanne. He was also a visiting student at Carlos III university in Madrid, Spain and at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Germany.

In recent years, the regulatory and market environment for financial institutions has been growing increasingly complex. This backdrop has created difficulties as well as opportunities across asset classes, and in light of those changes, the industry needs strong bodies like ICMA to prepare it for the challenges ahead and to identify future opportunities. The FLC initiative aims to include the actors of tomorrow’s markets in today’s decisions, which is key to encouraging best practice across markets and generations.

With this in mind, Konstantin’s aim is to develop the FLC initiative so that others can also benefit from ICMA’s vast offering. As Chairman of the FLC, his role is to ensure the ICMA board is kept abreast of the FLC’s activities as well as to bring members’ needs to the forefront of the FLC’s discussions and initiatives.

Fabian Berg

My name is Fabian Berg, and I am proud to represent the Nordic region in the ICMA Future Leaders Committee (FLC). I am Norwegian, but after finishing my MSc in Advanced Economics and Finance at Copenhagen Business School I stayed in Denmark and started working in the credit sales team at Nordea, where I have been for 2 years now. Where do I see myself in 5 years? Setting long term goals can be a good source of motivation, but my take is to focus on performing where you are and consider new opportunities as they arise.

I believe my contribution to the FLC is a lot of enthusiasm, proactivity and the ability to drive our initiatives forward. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to learn from other regions that are further down the path of creating a network for young debt capital professionals, and I am certain that we can learn a lot from their experience in our work with the Nordic region.

After his experience in the USA, he moved to Paris for an 8 months internship in Equity Derivatives Sales at Commerzbank, followed by another internship at NYSE Euronext in the ETFs, Funds & Structured Products team.
