Grindelwald Overview

Resort

Grindelwald is popularly called the “Village of the Glaciers”and is the largest of the Bernese Oberlandski resorts. This traditional mountain village is set amidst spectacular scenery at the foot of the towering north face of the Eigerwith typically Swiss architecture and a charming village centre.

Ski Area

Staying in Grindelwald gives you access to the Jungfrau ski region which includes GrindelwaldsFirst area, the KleineScheidegg-Männlichenarea, as well as Mürren-Schilthorn. The First is a 6 cabin gondola and together with the Oberjochchairlift up to 8000ft, it connects to some superb skiing on wide south-facing slopes directly above the village. Grindelwald is not a high resort, but its position in the shadow of the Eigerhelps to preserve the snow cover, over what is largely rock-free mountain pasture land. Artificial snowmaking cannon covers a total of 15km of runs.
