Overview of conference

With the exponential growth of capital markets across the globe as well as the growing ties among these markets, there is an increased need for dialogue to share knowledge and experience among regions. This conference aimed to impart the developments in the European capital markets, from regulatory to the investment landscape, and issues facing the Latin American markets. Other topics such as mutual recognition and convergence relating to the potential harmonisation of regulation for a global market place as well as the lessons to be learned from the European and North American capital markets in the context of the global market turbulence were discussed.

A two day conference, held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 27 to 28, the first day proceedings reflected on the historical development and current market practices in Europe as well as the challenges facing the Latin American fixed income markets drawing on the expertise of market practitioners. The second day of the conference focused on the latest developments in professional education in the fixed income industry.

This event was presented by the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) and sponsored by Credit Suisse Brazil, BM&F Bovespa, Bradesco BBI and Andima.
