The last year has seen fundamental changes in the environment of the financial markets of the EU, not just the effects of the credit crunch and global market turbulence but also the implementation of far reaching new regulatory measures designed to create a single European capital market.
This one day seminar in Frankfurt, a joint initiative from Bundesverband der Wertpapierfirmen an den deutschen Börsen e.V. (bwf) and the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), brought together industry practitioners and regulators to consider the impact of these developments on the competitive environment for capital markets in the EU, from the German standpoint. Notable industry figures from German and EU institutions, including BaFIN, delivered presentations and entered into the discussion with seminar participants on the far reaching effects of the new regulatory regime on issuers, traders and investors.
Conference languages were in German and English.
