Event Overview

ICMA’s European Repo and Collateral Council (ERCC) brings together professional participants from all sides of Europe's repo and collateral market. It plays a leading role in setting out best practice for the market and provides data on market volumes through the European repo survey.

The ERCC’s General Meetings provide a good opportunity to hear about the various issues that the market is currently facing and the steps being taken to address these; they are open to anyone with an interest in repo and collateral.

One of the key topics this autumn was the EU’s upcoming SFT Regulation, one of big current challenges for the industry. Discussions about the extensive reporting requirements that the SFTR is set to introduce and the challenges and opportunities that come with it. Besides SFTR, the agenda also included updates on other regulations that are impacting repo markets, including CSDR and NSFR. As usual, participants also heard about recent legal issues, current operational challenges and technology, as well as the evolving market best practices.
