Event Overview

Kay Swinburne MEP discussed her career path, the barriers she encountered along the way and how she has managed to navigate a successful career firstly in investment banking, and secondly as a Member of the European Parliament.

This was followed by a panel discussion, during which the moderator (Chris Muyldermans, Counsel, KBV Group NV) asked the panellists (Juliette Kennel from SWIFT, Krista Baetens from ING Belgium SA, Valérie Urbain from Euroclear and Gilda Neiman from Citi) to share their insights into the topic of gender inclusion, and to consider what needs to change in order to create the optimal conditions for women in finance to succeed. In the context of current working environments, the panellists discussed the effects of unconscious bias on career progression and networking, and what tools women need to nurture their career progression and best position themselves to develop leadership skills.
