Event overview

As APAC approaches its LIBOR-transition deadline, a lack of clarity around fallback provisions in LIBOR-linked notes has trading and liquidity implications for tough legacy bonds.

This event featured the launch of the report "ICMA-Bloomberg Guide to Tough Legacy Bonds in Asia Pacific", featuring statistics provided by Bloomberg and commentary by ICMA.

Join us for a discussion on the current state of play in relation to tough legacy issues in the bond markets. We looked at how bonds would operate post-LIBOR and highlight implications of IBOR transition and tough legacy bonds for trading, and liquidity in the region. Our experts addressed practical considerations on overall exposure to tough legacy LIBOR-linked bonds, the importance of making transition plans, and what steps firms should take to prepare for a post-LIBOR world.

Discussion topics included:
  •     Main risks arising out of tough legacy bonds in APAC
  •     Implications for trading and liquidity in the region
  •     Progress in APAC and what more must be done
  •     Emerging market practice with respect to fallbacks
  •     What "legislative solutions" in the US, EU and UK mean for APAC
  •     Issues referencing the cash data, robust score, qualitative scores
