Overview

Socially responsible investing (SRI) is becoming increasingly important in the global capital markets. In particular, issuance in the green bond market surpassed USD 150 billion in 2017, representing yearly growth of 60%.

Both the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange have been leaders in the development of this important new market.

ICMA helped to organise the launch of the Green Bond Principles in 2014, and the governance framework continues to evolve with the introduction of the Social Bond Principles and Sustainability Bond Guidelines in 2017. The Luxembourg Green Exchange was officially launched in 2016 and is a leading platform of sustainable finance in the global markets.

China is now a leader in the SRI market as well, and the Green and Social Bond Principles Annual General Meeting & Conference will be held in June 2018 in Hong Kong.

To reflect these recent developments, ICMA’s Luxembourg Regional Committee and the Luxembourg Green Exchange are delighted to invite you to an lunchtime seminar that will allow leaders from member banks of ICMA Luxembourg and Chinese banks active in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to learn about and discuss topics related to SRI as well as Green, Social, and Sustainablility Bonds.

This event will be a valuable opportunity to further connect the Chinese financial institutions active in the Grand Duchy with green finance experts from the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and ICMA’s offices in Europe and Asia, and to better understand recent developments in international sustainable finance markets.

ICMA and the Luxembourg Stock Exchange will deliver presentations on sustainable finance markets, followed by an interactive discussion on developments in international bond markets as well as a buffet lunch.

Admission: This event is free of charge and is open to all ICMA members and interested financial market participants; however registration in advance is essential.
