ICMA has taken steps to make the 57th ICMA AGM & Conference a sustainable event and the venues were carefully chosen in order to align with ICMA’s sustainability initiatives.
Travel
We chose Frankfurt as the location for the 2025 AGM and Conference because of the numerous travel options available for delegates joining from Europe.
Indeed we encourage delegates, where at all possible, to use travel options that minimise their carbon footprint.
For members who are flying, we also encourage thoughtful consideration of carbon offsets. To help facilitate your planning, we recommend the following firms:

At the Conference and Welcome Reception venue
Kap Europa was the first convention building to be awarded Platinum Certification by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). Many components contributed to this, including

At the Gala Reception
Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten is located in the ecological Palmengarten of the city of Frankfurt and attach great importance to plant-based, sustainable cuisine.
- One of the two chefs, Andreas Krolik, is the European pioneer for vegan, gourmet cuisine and has been awarded 2 Michelin stars and the European sustainability prize “Ethical Cuisine”. His products, as well as those of his colleague Steffen Haase, who is responsible for the banquet kitchen, are regional and organic, in any case everywhere, prepared according to the principles of “no waste”.
- They use eco-electricity and treat all the resources they use responsibly.
- Once a week they donate raw food to the food bank „die Tafel“ in Frankfurt.
ICMA will not be printing programmes or providing delegate bags. The conference information will be available through the conference app and on digital signage.
