Overview

“As a source of exchange, innovation and creativity, cultural diversity is as necessary for humankind as biodiversity is for nature.”

Article 1 UNESCO Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity

Financial markets have ever been multicultural, multilingual and intergenerational. Following internationalisation, expatriation, relocation and international exchanges, our interactions in the professional environment have multiplied the opportunities to be confronted with practices whose social acceptability could differ. Working in a multicultural environment can be a satisfying and rewarding experience. But what may be considered appropriate behaviour for one culture could be inappropriate for another. Misunderstandings can arise when communicating with someone from a different cultural background; this can lead to misinterpretation, misunderstanding or even an unintentional insult.

This evening offers an exchange of experiences. Financial market professionals will present how they have learned to adapt their own cultural capital to other universes.
