OVERVIEW AND STRUCTURE

The ICMA-Certified Fixed Income Trader & Portfolio Manager brings together two of ICMA’s flagship courses — the Fixed Income Certificate (FIC) and Fixed Income Portfolio Management & Construction — into a single, industry-recognised certification.

The programme represents a structured qualification pathway designed for professionals looking to deepen their expertise and receive an industry-certified qualification in fixed income trading, valuation, and portfolio construction.

Who is it for?

This programme is ideal for professionals in the sell-side and buy-side of the market who want to build on their trading or investment skills and gain a more comprehensive understanding of fixed income markets. It’s particularly well-suited for those in roles such as:

  • Fixed income traders and analysts
  • Portfolio managers and investment strategists
  • Salespeople covering bonds and rates products
  • Risk, ALM, or treasury professionals with exposure to fixed income risk
  • Market operations or compliance professionals supporting fixed income desks

Designed for individuals with several years’ front-office experience working with bonds, the programme is perfect for those aiming to bridge the gap between execution and strategic decision-making, grow their professional confidence, and gain a respected industry qualification to support their career progression.

How does it work?

The programme is structured around two ICMA training courses:

Fixed Income Certificate  – our flagship course on the secondary markets, renowned for its hands-on approach and emphasis on developing practical skills for trading, investment and risk management, providing a robust technical foundation for fixed income professionals.

Fixed Income Portfolio Management & Construction  - a specialist course that introduces the tools and techniques for the management of fixed income portfolios and applies them first to analysing portfolios of real bonds and then to the construction and management of portfolios.

Participants can take both courses back-to-back or separately within a 12-month period. Upon successful completion of both exams , candidates will receive the ICMA-Certified Fixed Income Trader & Portfolio Manager certificate.

How much does it cost?

Courses can be taken in-person, via livestream or a combination of both:

  • In-person courses only – participants attend both courses in-person. ICMA members EUR 5,500; Non-members EUR 6,500 (SAVE 25-30% on individual course prices)
  • In-person and/or livestreamed courses – participants attend courses either in-person OR via livestreamed format. ICMA members EUR 4,500; Non-members EUR 5,500 (SAVE 25-30% on individual course prices)
