Overview

The Asia-Pacific region faces an urgent need to mobilize sustainable finance at scale to meet its climate and development goals. While momentum around sustainability reporting and disclosure frameworks continues to grow, significant challenges remain in ensuring high-quality ESG data, consistent implementation of standards, and the effective use of digital technologies to support sustainable finance markets.

Co-organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), this regional workshop will bring together policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, international organizations, and private sector leaders to explore practical solutions for strengthening the sustainable finance ecosystem in Asia-Pacific and beyond.

Held alongside the 2026 IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok, the event will examine developments in sustainability reporting frameworks, including ISSB standards and climate-related disclosures, discuss emerging approaches to ESG data readiness and greenhouse gas emissions measurement, and showcase innovative digital solutions such as SupTech, RegTech, AI-enabled ESG analytics, and digital monitoring, reporting and verification systems. Participants will also identify opportunities for regional and international cooperation to accelerate sustainable finance and support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement.
