In recent years, transition finance has emerged as an important part of sustainable finance. The war on Ukraine and other global geopolitical uncertainties have further increased the need to transition. In the sustainable bonds market especially green bonds and sustainability-linked bonds have emerged as ideal instruments for financial and corporate issuers but also sovereigns to raise transition finance for hard to abate sectors as well as research and innovation. Questions have otherwise been raised about greenwashing risks in sustainable finance. Both the market and regulators are addressing these concerns through multiple initiatives.
