Kumsa Gebremariam, currently 29 years old, born and raised in Maastricht, Netherlands. He graduated end of 2012 from Maastricht University, Master’s degree in International Business - Controlling. During an extracurricular exchange semester as a part of his Master’s degree he studied International Finance in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Directly after university he joined ING Bank as a trader at the Liquidity Management desk of the treasury. When he joined, his main focus was mostly on FX and Money Market for the banking books of ING Bank in Amsterdam. Since two years approximately he has added a strong focus on fixed income products such as repo and collateral swaps for the purpose of steering the bank’s (regulatory) liquidity position. His experience within the treasury of a global bank in the area of funding and liquidity management will be of added value because it can add a fresh angle to the fixed income experience within the FLC.
He views his membership of the FLC committee as a great opportunity to facilitate young professionals to connect with the established leaders within the financial industry of the Netherlands and abroad. This will help both generations to benefit from each other’s view on different challenges that the industry is currently facing.
